The idea came from my early interest in online scams. I was fascinated by how Remote Access Trojans (RATs) work, which are malicious files disguised as harmless ones. Many Minecraft players lost their accounts to them, which got me interested in online security.
Cheztrap focuses mainly on phishing, but the name stuck.
